GOD’S THRONE

Revelation 4:1  After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

Note:
Remember, that in Revelation chapter one, John was taken to The LORD’S Day, which we call the Millennium. It’s the day that JESUS returns. In chapters two and three, John was describing what was happening on earth with the churches just before The LORD’S Day. After this, John sees a door open in Heaven, and hears a voice as of a trumpet talking with him. Now, I believe that if GOD speaks, that it would be so strong that it may give vibrations like a trumpet. And this would be a sign of the Glory of the LORD. But I also think it could be a time marker. JESUS returns at the seventh trump, which is the farthest trump out, which is the last trump and is also known as The Trump Of GOD. The voice says to come up to Heaven and see the future. What we saw in Revelation chapters two and three is the future from our perspective just before The LORD’S Day on earth. What we are about to see is the future with perspective to The LORD’S Day, but in Heaven rather than on earth. As a side note, I want to mention that there are many churches that believe in a rapture, and they  say this verse (Revelation 4:1) is the church taken up to Heaven. These churches are either deceiving or they are not able to understand GOD’S WORD. The verse clearly states that it is John, not the church that is taken to Heaven to see the things that will come hereafter.

Revelation 4:2  And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
Revelation 4:3  And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

Note:
The jasper and the sardine stone are the first and the last stone on the vest or breastplate of a Priest. It indicates that HE is the First and the Last, The ALMIGHTY. There is none else beside HIM. The Rainbow round about the THRONE is GOD’S BOW, the SHEKINAH GLORY. It’s GOD’S Presence.

Revelation 4:4  And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

Note:
No one knows for sure who these twenty four elders are, but it is theorized by some that it is the twelve patriarchs of Israel (the fathers of the twelve tribes of Israel) and the twelve apostles. The gold crowns they wear were earned in their service to GOD.

Revelation 4:5  And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

The lightnings are the brightness of GOD. The seven Spirits of GOD will be covered in chapter five, although we have discussed them in a previous chapter. Seven is equal to Spiritual Completeness. It means all that are there are supposed to be there. It means GOD is ALL in ALL. COMPLETE. See the post, “Spiritual Completeness”, for a description or example of Spiritual Completeness.

Revelation 4:6  And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

Note:
The sea of glass like crystal means purity. The translation of “four beasts” is a bad translation. It should have been translated as four living creatures. These creatures protect GOD’S THRONE. Being full of eyes before and behind means that these four living creatures are all knowing. In the previous age, GOD had two archangels protecting HIS THRONE. They were known as the Cherubim That Covereth. They would cover or protect GOD’S THRONE. One was named lucifer, and the other was Michael the archangel. The archangel named lucifer went bad. In his pride, he tried to take GOD’S THRONE instead of protecting it. This evil angel was removed from this position when iniquity was found in him. That is the reason for the four living creatures at this time.

Revelation 4:7  And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

In the book of Ezekiel, when GOD brought HIS THRONE with HIM to speak to Ezekiel at the river Chebar (length of time), HE brought HIS THRONE on a Ship. These four living creatures were there to protect the THRONE. Wherever GOD’S THRONE goes, these creatures will be there to protect HIS THRONE. The symbology of these four living creatures indicates that they also protect GOD’S children. This can be seen by the layout of the tribes of Israel as they encamped during the night. GOD had Moses tell the tribes of Israel to encamp in a military standard. I will attempt to draw a picture of what this encampment looked like (Considering that this encampment would take place in the Old Testament, you might find the shape interesting), as follows:

Revelation 4:8  And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

For a description of GOD’S Ship and these four living creatures, see Ezekiel chapter one. They each had four faces on each of four sides. One was the face of an Eagle, the other the face of an Ox, and the face of a Man, and the face of a Lion. “Lord GOD Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come” means HE was in the previous age, HE is here now, and HE will be in the Eternity.

Revelation 4:9  And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,
Revelation 4:10  The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
Revelation 4:11  Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Note:
They cast their crowns before the THRONE because there is only ONE CROWN that is worthy and ONE CROWN for Eternity. We also see why GOD created us, and why HE created all things. It was for HIS pleasure.
